Fever is the common symptom of child patients, which is a reaction of body to virus or bacterium invasion. This reaction is favorable to kill the invasion of the viruses and bacteria, and the immune function in time of fever is better than that at normal body temperature, with faster metabolism, increased antibody synthesis and devoured cell activity enhanced, which is the body's emergency mobilization of whole body to resist to fight against foreign pathogenic microbes, and to adjust the body's physiological balance. These immune functions can inhibit the pathogen growth and reproduction, so as to facilitate the normal growth and development of children. Of course, fever also has harmful effects to human body. High fever has adverse effect on the babies suffering acute upper respiratory infection; the children suffering extreme exhaustion or with severe lung and cardiovascular diseases are subject to injuries because the fever has increased the oxygen consumption and heart rate; excessively high fever will also cause the damage to nervous system.
